Please read this thoroughly before submitting any of your work, and make sure you do everything written here.

Use your spellcheck.
Even if you're not too great at spelling or are just too lazy to do it yourself, the computer will check and correct any spelling errors for you, so there is absolutely no excuse.
Use punctuation properly!
This means correct paragraphing and new lines for new speakers, to small and simple things like full stops and capital letters. Even if your work is fantastic, people will ignore it if there aren't any paragraphs or capitals to indicate a new sentence.
Try to keep things as accurate and mature as you can.
If your work involves subjects such as time periods, for instance, make sure everything you write about fits in with that particular theme. If you're writing about a sensitive subject, such as self-harm or suicide, please do so in a tasteful and mature manner, so not to upset other members who may have had past experiences with said issues. If any pieces of work are found to portray these subjects in this way, they will be deleted and their authors will receive a warning.
Once finished, give it a final read and polish it up.
Look for any spelling errors, or anything else you could add to improve it.
Save a backup copy of your work.
This is extremely important in case something happens to the forum and we lose all our posts. You can then just copy and paste your saved fanfic into a new thread. We cannot be held responsible for lost fanfics if you didn't save a backup copy!

Keep it to one thread. Try to separate the chapters out, if you can, for example, one chapter per post inside your thread. If you prefer to keep all the chapters in the first thread and just keep adding to it, make sure you clearly define each new chapter. Any new chapters you add to your piece should be indicated in your thread's subject line, along with the date you added it and an indication that you've added something new.
You MUST include the following disclaimer!
Title:
Author:
Characters: (if you've used any from a band, book, film etc, state who they are and the band/book/film etc that they're in)
Rating: Ratings are as follows:
T-Rated Fiction:
Fiction with some violence, minor coarse language and minor suggestive adult themes.
M-Rated Fiction:
Fiction containing strong adult themes, references to violence and coarse language.
MA-Rated Fiction
Fiction with explicit content, language and themes, including slash.
Disclaimer: I do not know or represent any of the characters featured within my story, and the entirety of my work is fictional. Any reference to actual events and people is purely coincidential.
The last part is majorly important, and we cannot allow your fanfic to be posted without it!
PUT THE TITLE OF YOUR WORK AND THE RATING IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR POST. UPDATE THIS EVERY TIME YOU ADD A NEW CHAPTER OR SO TO IT.
[glow=red,2,300]When commenting on work:[/glow]
Any criticism should be constructive.
Nobody needs to be told that their work is rubbish, as this will not help them improve.
Don't advertise your work in other threads.
Keeps all your promotions to either the promotions forum, or keep a link to your work in your signature. Nothing else.
Don't comment just to bump your post count.
If your comment makes it clear you haven't read anybody's work, it will be deleted. Members post their work here for feedback, not for lazy people to pretend to appreciate it.
[glow=red,2,300]Once your fanfic is complete:[/glow]
Indicate that it is complete in the thread's subject line, and inbox me. The fanfic will then be archived on the FM Fan Fic website (with your permission) so we have a permanent copy of it once the threads have been cleared up by our system.
We will leave your finished work in the forum for a further two weeks for members to read and comment on, and we will then delete it. We will inbox you the link to your work on our website, which you can then display in your signature as you wish.
Got everything you need? Then go ahead and post. We look forward to reading your work!
